Mental Ray Training
September 29 - October 1: Using mental ray series
These are the first three classes in the general artist track, Using mental ray series.
This class offering is actually a series of one-day classes intended for artists, who wish to learn more about mental ray. This class series, named Using mental ray, does not rely on C programming knowledge, as our shader writing class does, or editing of text files, as our Phenomena developing class does. However, it will cover mental ray with the same level of breadth and depth, and you will work with a custom set of shaders developed for the training classes.
October 2 - 3: Specialized Artist class series
This class offering is actually a series of one-day classes intended for artists, who wish to learn more about refining specific look in mental ray. They focus on use of specific shaders or shader types.
October 13 - 15: Shader Network Design
This 3-day class offering is intended for TDs, or technical artists, who wish to extend mental ray capability beneath their application. This class, named Shader Network Design: Phenomena, does not rely on C programming knowledge as our shader writing class does. However, it will cover mental ray with considerable breadth and depth, as you work with .mi scene files to develop Phenomena from shader graphs.October 16 - 17: Performance Optimization
This 2-day class offering is intended for TDs, or technical artists, who are responsible for optimizing the rendering speed while retaining quality. Internal mental ray mechanisms will be discussed to provide a foundation for understanding how to adapt parameters for a variety of scene types.November 10 - 12: Writing mental ray Shaders
This class offering is intended for programmers, who are familiar with scripting languages, scene file formats, etc., and the C programming language. This class, named Writing mental ray Shaders, covers mental ray in breadth and depth giving many examples of various types of shaders in mental ray. You will also learn about .mi scene files and Phenomena, as they provide the foundation for our shader programming context. We prefer that students for this class have facility with text editors, and command line execution, to keep the class moving.Eyeon Fusion User Group Meeting
